Comfort and Convenience at the San Diego Marriott Mission Valley

Recently my family and I were treated to a stay at the San Diego Marriott Mission Valley, right in the heart of my hometown.

When I asked my girls their favorite thing about the hotel they screamed in unison, “THE POOL!”  In a city that is sunny 9.75 days out of 10, having a heated pool and adjoining jacuzzi is the first key to success. It took my kids less than 4 minutes to change into their suits as soon as our bags were delivered to the room, and that is where we stayed for a majority of the day. Gorgeousness!

Their second favorite part of the hotel, and this is a direct quote (capitalization required for emphasis), “THE FOOD!” Located in the lobby of the hotel is a casual restaurant called The DEN that has the perfect menu for picky eaters kids and parents alike. We also had room service for dinner and took advantage of their Concierge Lounge for breakfast (ask at the front desk about that service) and, literally, my kids haven’t stopped talking about the good food at the Marriott. They way to a kid’s heart is  . . .

Coming in third on their list of favorite things about the hotel, the comfy beds! Being a kid in a king sized hotel bed is pretty close to heaven (especially if they have their new Frozen books with them).

From my perspective, the highlight of the stay was the fun ride on the San Diego Trolley to Fashion Valley and downtown. With a trolley stop in it’s backyard, the Marriott Mission Valley is the perfect place to be if you want quick, easy access to nearly all the fun attractions in San Diego. The Fashion Valley that I knew as a teenager in the 80’s is now the trendiest and chicest mall in town, and since my girls love shopping as much as I do, it was a natural place to stop during our staycation.

We then hopped back on the trolley and headed downtown to hit up the San Diego Children’s Museum and Sea Port Village. People watching, culture, shopping, sunshine, good food and great family time all in one day–what more could a mom ask for?

A big thanks to the San Diego Marriott Mission Valley for the awesome staycation! I hope you’ll check them out next time you’re in town, and in the meantime, follow them to find out what they’re up to.
