I am a big fan of the local libraries. You can read my appreciation for the local libraries here. I think they are a great resource for families to love books, to learn, to participate in community events and activities. With the anticipated new San Diego Central Library in downtown’s East Village opening, the community is invited to a grand celebration! The Central Library is the heart of San Diego’s 35-branch library system. The celebration theme is “A dream 30 years in the making.” On September 28th from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., the FREE celebration will include a Library dedication, family-oriented street festival, and a sneak peek at first floor areas and the auditorium of the new building.
The schedule of events is as follows:
11:00 a.m. – Dedication Ceremony (featuring the Navy Band and San Diego Children’s Choir)
12:00 – 6:00 p.m. – Street Festival and Sneak Peeks in the Library (includes music, arts and crafts, storytelling and food)
The best way to get to the festivities is using public transportation. There are also paid parking areas within walking distance of the library. Get more information on the library website.
