Sometimes, you don’t get to try out all of the cool new restaurants because your husband gets to them first. Boo! The other day my husband texted me, “we are going to the new Slater’s 50/50 in Lake Forest for lunch.” I’ve been wanting to go to Slater’s 50/50 for a very long time.
Although I was still jealous of his food fest, I asked him to take a picture of his food for his awesome blogger-type wife. He did an awesome job and sent me three beautiful pictures, which made me very hungry.
Slater’s 50/50 opened their first location in Anaheim in 2009, and their second and third locations in Huntington Beach and San Diego in 2011, along with Pasadena in 2012. Their third location in Lake Forest just opened a little over a week ago.
But what is Slater’s 50/50, and what is it about their burgers?
Slater’s 50/50 is the biggest and baddest bite of bacon across the Southland. Named for Scott Slater’s signature half-beef, half-bacon burger patty, Slater’s 50/50 is known across the country for offering completely bonkers burgers, big selections of craft brews, and dedication to good-times all around in Southern California.
My Husband ordered a Design-It Style Burger, which came with the following: 50/50 patty , bacon cheese, green leaf lettuce, thick cut bacon, bacon island dressing, bacon ketchup, baconnaise, served on a bacon pretzel bun.
My husband is a bit of a glutton. And obviously, he loves bacon…bacon…bacon. He came home later that afternoon completely full — still — and said that he was in a total food coma. He also exclaimed, “that was the best burger that I’ve ever had in my life!” Which made me hate him a little more, because I did not get to enjoy the bacon goodness!

The signature 50/50 patty, 50% ground beef and 50% ground bacon, is the inspiration and star of Slater’s 50/50.
