Create a new Valentine’s Memory this year with the help of the Marie Hitchcock Puppet Theater‘s NEW SHOW running between February 9 – 13. Prices are family-friendly ($3-5) with four different matinee times throughout the week. You and the kids will be settling down in one of the 200 seats to enjoy “Circus Hilarious” , a story about how “long, long ago, circus trains used to bring troupes of performers, clowns, and exotic animals to every corner of the country. This is a story with life size puppets about just such a traveling circus, though not without a twist. Watch and help the animals save their show and discover how friendship is the true path to fame and fortune.”
You’ll be seeing life sized puppets from Animal Cracker Conspiracy and puppeteers Bridget Rountree and Iain Gunn, who are passionate about puppetry of all kinds: hand puppetry, shadow puppetry, toy theatre, or giant puppets. And why not be passionate about puppets? Puppetry is a great integration of art and education. For instance, if you spark curiosity with a wonderful puppet show and sneak in a sideline trip to the theater puppet store, kids won’t take long thinking up their own puppet script. By the time you get home, you may even have a theme, a possible home stage (behind a couch), and invitations. Puppets can be purchased, created, or pretended. The play can be scripted or performed spontaneously. Whip up some cupcakes for the post-performance kitchen reception and a new Valentine’s Day tradition is born!
Get your camera ready! A video of the performance will be treasured, but still photographs and accompanying written “Story of our Valentine Day Puppet Show” will be enjoyed for a lifetime.
It’s an affordable and a priceless celebration of love and giggles: a perfect family plan for Valentine fun.
